The warp weighted loom is the oldest loom known to us. It has probably existed since the Stone Age, several thousand years before our era. Oppstadvev is also called oppstadgogn, from Norse, to stand upright and gog; utensil. The loom stands upright against the wall, and has warp threads tied at the bottom to loom weights, stone or ceramic claw stones. Historically, woven swords of quail bone , wood and iron have been used.
