Delicious and warm skin of sheep from Osterøy.

The Norwegian Short Tail Landrace are descended from the Old Norse sheep, which is considered to be the most original type of sheep in Norway. This colorful sheep has fine, soft underwool and a long, shiny coat.

The sheep is well suited to keeping down scrub and small bushes that otherwise tend to dominate the landscape. Thus, this breed of sheep can use land that is not suitable for other agriculture. We get both wool and meat of good quality from this sheep. In the Viking Age, it was yarn from the wool of the Norwegian Short Tail landrace that was used in the sails that the Vikings used in their ships.

The sheep can have different colours, and vary from black, white, brown and mixtures of all colours. This hardy and colorful sheep has fine, soft underwool and a long, shiny and slightly coarser coat.
