The wild sheep on Ytre Lygra go outside all year and graze in the coastal heaths. The yarn in the knitting package is a collaboration between Lygra wild sheep group and the Heathland Centre, and is spun at Hillesvåg wool factory.
The wool of the wild sheep is two-parted with fine bottom wool and coarser top wool. The yarn is thick and robust, but still soft. Finished garments become softer after washing. the yarn is very suitable for outerwear and mittens. Socks should be twined. Wool from wild sheep is known to be relatively water resistant and very warm.
