The pattern is inspired by western pattern traditions, and was designed by Birger Berge for the Bergen Knitting Festival. In Nordfjord they had the pole jerseys, which are traditional jerseys with a vertical stripe pattern. In Fana, you have the well-known Fana jersey with simple horizontal stripes. The patterns from the knitting factory in Salhus also often had simple striped patterns in their pattern archives, and the pattern type and color selection here are inspired by these different traditions.
