At the Lyngheisenteret they protect the heaths through active farming. The traditional cultural landscape is a result of farming and sustainable use of the resources on the coast. The wild sheep on Ytre Lygra go outside all year and graze in the coastal heaths. Here you will find grass and herbs in the summer, while the winter green heather is the main food in the winter.

The wool trap for the wild sheep is two-part with fine bottom wool and coarser top wool. Villsaugarnet is thick and robust, but still soft. Finished garments become softer after washing. The yarn is very suitable for outerwear, mittens and socks. Wool from wild sheep is known to be relatively water resistant and very warm.

Villsaugarn from Lygra is yarn from the wool of the wild sheep on Ytre Lygra, carded and spun at the Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. In the online shop, we have the yarn in natural grey, but it is available in several colors on request or in the museum shop at Lygra.

Today they get 10% off wild saw yarn from Lygra in the online shop.
